| The FoelDHRiders
have simple aims but big ambitions. Through hard work, experience,
organisation and lots of riding they aim to carve out a challenging
and sustainable venue for Downhill in North Wales. Starting
out as an underground, locals spot Foel gained vital support
from the Forestry Commission guaranteeing its future and allowing
it to grow with its riders ambitions. The hill may not be
Fort William, but its got about 400ft of elevation and a great
mix of terrain giving the trails lots of variety. Importantly,
there's uplift access from trail-heads to finish lines, no
troublesome road crossings and enough distance from the public
to avoid conflict with other users. |

| Trail
One is Foel's original masterpiece and the most
challenging trail on the hill. Three minutes of punishing
roots, switchbacks, rock gardens and mud will test all
of your skills but still leave you aching for more.
Start just above the fire road, hit the steep roll in,
hold on tight through the rockgarden/berm/jump/drop
combo and things are only just getting warmed up. From
here on in its steep, muddy and tight with a killer
fourty foot vert to finish. If you come to Foel, you
must ride this trail. Absolutely guaranteed to scare
the hell out of you but improve your skills every time
down. One piece of advice: pack the mud tyres! |

Trail Two
was the first venture of the new FoelDHRiders club and
was developed with the input of local riders, the Forestry
Commission and The Llandegla Mountain Bike Centre. Whilst
it's still a work in progress things are running very
nicely, giving riders a fast and flowing ride that clocks
in at around two to three minutes. Variety is definitely
the key element of Trail 2, treating riders to fast
single track, tight switchbacks, tricky roots and lots
of line choices. Easy to ride, difficult to master...You'll
love it. |

Trail
3 is still under development. We've pretty much got
it all marked out and digging has started.
If you want to get involved visit our forum
and check out the dates for our next digging day. These trails
are changing and getting better all the time, so check back
often for the latest updates and images of new sections.
When driving up please take care on the roads, they're narrow
and the traffic goes both ways! Even the fire roads are used
on a daily basis by locals and we need their support. So save
your speed for the trails and drive with care. |
